Nursery Planning: Dapper Dude

I am having so much fun with nursery planning. I have the big pieces and the layout figured out but the finishing touches may change. I love working on nurseries! Click on the image below for a closer look.

I found the initial inspiration from Lay Baby Lay – a fabulous blog for nursery ideas and mood boards. The design that inspired me most was the Little Gent board.

Then I fell hard for this DwellStudio bedding. I decided to skip the crib set and I picked up the skyline sheet as the room’s foundation. I will add this DwellStudio dot crib skirt for an extra dash of pattern. To keep it interesting I’ll also snag this orange and white sheet to change it up on laundry day.

Furniture-wise the crib will be from Walmart – either the Olivia or the Parklane. The actual crib in my board is the Oeuf – I only used this for representation as the photos of the actual cribs show clashing bedding. I am planning to splurge a bit on this Monte Luca glider – I will be sitting in it often so it needs to be comfy. It’s also pretty easy on the eyes and compact which is important for our small nursery. The red orange pouf from CB2 will be my foot rest.

The walls will be adorned with fun prints and pennants and a big round mirror over the dresser. I think I saw a DIY version of the embroidered mirrors somewhere but my prego brain can’t recall – I will buy a basic mirror and color block the edge with washi tape or craft paint. Remaining sources: clock, care print, hat print, balloon print, pennant, fox, seattle print, bird mobile, stripe bin, bow tie.

We have about 21 weeks to get everything in place before our dapper dude joins us!

  1. Love the colors (and LOVE that balloon print)! Trendy, yet classic…I know it will be one Ca-ute space. Can’t wait to meet Baby Boy Morse!

  2. Thanks Courtney! Can’t wait to meet your little one!

  3. Hello! This is pretty much my dream board! I think I am going to try and create this for my kids shared bedroom. Do you happen to know the paint colors? We love edgecomb and have it so many places in the house I thought this would be perfect! Also since you are amazing at this mood board stuff do you think I would be able to add in a pink? Boy/girl shared attic space so wanted to make sure there was a little bit of girly! :). Thanks for your thoughts!

Sorry to leave such a long comment!

  4. Hi Kristen! I ended up using Ben Moore’s Quiet Moments in my son’s nursery, although on the mood board I used edgecomb. I had edgecomb a few places in my last house and loved it. If you are wanting a light gray many people really love Gray Owl also by Ben Moore. Not sure if that answers your question. I do think pink would look cute added in, perhaps a pink with some punch to it so it can sit with the orange and teal… something like the links below perhaps?

    • Thank you so much! This is brilliant! I was actually wondering what the names of the other colors were – when planning I like to have color swatches on a key ring to take with me when I am shopping to make sure whatever I buy will go?! Our house is full of Edgecomb – we love it too! You truly have a gift for decorating – I am going to browse you blog some more! Can’t wait to see what other inspiration I find. Thanks again for all of your help, I will definitely send pics when it is complete! xx

  5. Oh! Those colors at the top were just matched by my computer by clicking on the items in my mood board – it’s a feature in adobe. So the dark gray is whatever fabric color used in the charcoal glider, the orange is from the art etc. Good luck!
