This recipe is from my friend Tara and it’s the best chili I’ve ever tasted. This snowy weather certainly calls for chili. And a crackling fire. Possibly some hot chocolate. Stay warm and enjoy!
1 lb. ground beef
1 package sausage (I use Jimmy Dean “lean” sausage)
1 can Rotel (8 oz) (you can replace this with diced tomatoes for a less spicy version)
1 can Hunt’s Tomato Sauce (12 oz??)
1 can Hunt’s Tomato Paste (tiny can – maybe 4 oz??)
1 can Ranch Style Beans
1 can black beans (drained)
1 large bell pepper (or you can mix in different kinds of peppers)
1 small onion (I usually use white or yellow onions)
1 package Williams Chili Powder (seasoning packet)
Combine tomato sauce (with 1 can water after emptying tomato sauce can), tomato paste, beans and Rotel in large pot and heat on low. Brown the meat and sautee the peppers and onions in a pan, drain grease. Add the meat, peppers, and onions into the pot with the tomatoes, etc. Stir in the Williams chili powder and increase heat to medium / medium high. Stir occasionally and reduce heat if it begins to boil. Donesky!
