Chips and Dips

I love dip for social gatherings. It’s so quick and tasty! here are my favorite dip recipes:

Cream Cheese Salsa Dip (AKA Love Dip) – this is a familiy favorite that we have made for years.

  • 1 stick cream cheese
  • 2 cups picante sauce

Mix the two ingredients with a hand mixer – add as much picante as you like. It’s the easiest recipe and it always pleases a crowd. Look here for a more complex version.

Avocado Dip

  • 1 stick cream cheese
  • 2 cups of salsa
  • fresh lemon juice to taste
  • 3 small or 2 large avocados

Mix the above ingredients with a hand mixer and you’re good to go! Beware – the measurements are guesses!

Jalapeno Popper Dip - Adapted from this recipe and SO delicious!

  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (I substituted sour cream)
  • 1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
  • 4 ounces canned diced jalapeno peppers, drained
  • 1/2 cup shredded Mexican style cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray an oven safe serving dish with non-stick cooking spray. Using an electric mixer, blend the cream cheese and mayonnaise (or sour cream). Add the remaining ingredients and place in the baking dish. Mix the bread crumbs and parmesan and sprinkle over the dip. Bake for 25 minutes or until the topping is lightly browned.

*if you’re in a hurry skip the bread crumbs and microwave for a few minutes. If you are leaving the dip out for a party it stays nice and hot in a crock pot!
